Jacob Henry Schiff (1847-1920) - the famous American banker, philanthropist and public figure. Since 1885, he ruled the banker house "Kun, Lyob and Co." - one of the most successful in the United States, which participated in financing many large projects, including a railway network. Schiff proved himself as a politician. This applies, in particular, autocratic Russia, in respect of which he fought an irreconcilable struggle, actively counteracting it to the receipt of loans from the United States. He violently welcomed the Provisional Government and was ready to negotiate financial assistance to him. The same concerned Japan, which Schiff supported in every possible way during the Russo-Japanese War. The book provides interesting facts of shiff"s biography and letters, which indicate his versatile interests and activities
