This book is devoted to the Great Prince of Moscow, "Sorry of All Russia" Ivan III (1462-1505) Already contemporaries called him Ivan the Great. His political achievements are indisputable: he swallowed disobedient Russian lands into the powerful Moscow state, delivered the country from the oppressive power of the Horde, brought it out of a historic dead end. However, so far, the complex and tragic identity of Ivan III, in whose biography of which all the drama of the turnover era vividly reflected, remains essentially undisclosed and incomprehensible. The in-depth reading of the preserved historical sources allowed the author of the book to see for the usual all monumental mask "of the Soviet of All Russia" genuine face of one of the main figures of national history. Having left life, Ivan the Great continued to live in his affairs. His descendants adhered to the main directions of the policies developed by him, solved the tasks that he set. In order to fulfill the program compiled by him, the country took as many as three centuries. For historians and all interested in the history of Russia
