Exactly 40 years ago, in 1983, the Soviet authorities returned the ancient Moscow monastery of Danilov to the Russian Orthodox Church, founded in the 13th century by the holy and righteous Prince Daniel of Moscow. The author of this book, Archimandrite, later Metropolitan of Vladimir and Suzdal Eulogius, was the first abbot of the revived monastery, bearing all the hardships of the initial restoration of the monastery. The book is especially valuable because it is written based on the vivid traces of grand events, full of precious living details.
