The book of the Russian poetess and journalist Olga Berggolts includes her diary entries, texts of radio speeches related to the difficult times of the Leningrad blockade, and the novella "Daily Stars," which the author considered the main book of her life. Olga Berggolts recalled: "People were already falling from hunger on the streets of Leningrad... One district after another plunged into darkness resembling polar night, energy was running out, light was disappearing from the city, movement was freezing. And it turned out that for a weakened, semi-dead Leningrader, the only form of communication with the outside world was the 'radio set'."
