The book contains translations of the speeches and letters of Isocrates, as well as a number of other ancient Greek speakers, which are customary to call small atmists- Hyperida, Lycurgus, Dinarch, Aeschin. Public eloquence was one of the brightest manifestations of ancient culture. With particular completeness, it developed in the cultural center of the ancient Hellas - Athens in late -classical times (IV century BC) Defenders of policy freedom and autonomy, Lycurgus and Hyperid put their talent for the service of democracy. Isocrates, Aeschin, Dinarch found themselves in the opposite camp, gravitated to unity under the auspices of the Macedonian kings. The speeches of all these speakers (and some of them are first translated into Russian) is an important source for studying social life, political struggle and public moods in ancient Greece. At the same time, these are precious monuments of ancient oratory prose.
In the “Additions "section", the biographies of small Attic speakers are given.
The publication is equipped with an article and an extensive scientific commentary
