In 2004, a monograph by S.M. Prozorov was published under the same title, incorporating research of various genres in terms of developing the general theme of Islam as an ideological system. The materials of the second volume consider other aspects of Islam according to three main directions of this theme, which are respectively dedicated to three out of the four chapters and which were not reflected in the first volume: 1. The Quran and Muslim exegesis, 2. Sufism as a form of interpretation and existence of Islam, 3. Academic Islamic studies and Islamic education in Russia. An important distinction in the development of these aspects of Islam is the reliance on original Arabic sources, including manuscripts. The comprehensive processing of original sources not only allowed the introduction of information extracted from them into scholarly use but also formulated new methodological approaches to the study of the materials contained in them, to the study of Islam as an ideological system.
The book includes publications by the author that have been supplemented and adapted to the monographic genre in the form of articles, translations from Arabic, educational programs and aids, presentations at international conferences, prepared and mainly published over the last ten years in specialized journals, collections of scientific articles, and materials of international conferences. Collected together and thematically grouped by chapters, they provide interested readers with a more complete understanding of Islam as an ideological system and its specificity.
