If there is a lack of iron in the body, it can lead to various complications, as iron is responsible for delivering oxygen to all organs of our body. With anemia, this process is disrupted, causing organs to experience oxygen deprivation. This primarily affects the functioning of the brain and other vital organs. Iron deficiency anemia often occurs in children, elderly people, and pregnant women. Signs of iron deficiency include dry and falling hair, brittle and peeling nails, cracks around the lips, sleep problems, frequent headaches, constant fatigue and drowsiness, changes in taste (craving non-edible items). Vitamin B1 (thiamine) helps convert carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into energy. Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) is involved in all types of metabolic processes, especially in providing visual functions, maintaining skin and mucous membrane health, and synthesizing hemoglobin. Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) is responsible for releasing energy from all calorie-containing foods, protein and fat synthesis. Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) is involved in antibody synthesis and accelerates wound healing. Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) participates in carbohydrate metabolism, hemoglobin synthesis, and the regulation of the nervous system. Vitamins C and B12 are involved in regulating oxidative-reductive processes, carbohydrate metabolism, blood clotting, tissue regeneration, increasing the body's resistance to infections, reducing vascular permeability, and acting as strong antioxidants. They participate in the metabolism of phenylalanine, tyrosine, folic acid, norepinephrine, histamine, iron, carbohydrate absorption, lipid and protein synthesis, carnitine, immune reactions, serotonin hydroxylation, and enhance iron absorption. Vitamin E prevents hemolysis of red blood cells, thus maintaining tissue oxygen saturation. It participates in tissue respiration, stimulates the production of structural proteins, reduces vascular permeability, prevents edema formation, and strengthens the immune system. It has also found application in cardiology, preventing degenerative changes in cardiac muscle and enhancing myocardial contractility.
