The book summarizes the experience of many years of research on the structure and function of spermatozoa in fertile men and patients with various types of infertility, including recurrent pregnancy loss, which is traditionally considered the prerogative of gynecologists. The principles of interpreting laboratory spermograms are presented in accordance with the recommendations of the 6th edition of the WHO manual on human semen analysis. The first chapters are devoted to general issues of spermatogenesis and methods of studying spermatozoa. The morphology of individual parts of these cells and their anomalies are described. The final chapters include information on intracellular viral infection of spermatozoa and bacterial infection of ejaculate. Data on the features of electron microscopy of spermatozoa for assessing their fertilization potential are provided.
