The manual presents the basic principles of intensive therapy for life-threatening conditions in children after cardiothoracic interventions for congenital heart defects. Clear action algorithms for the medical staff of the intensive care unit in various clinical situations are provided. Special attention is given to key issues in the diagnosis and treatment of complications such as low cardiac output syndrome, heart rhythm disturbances, acute respiratory failure, chylothorax, and others.
