The book unites the main literary studies works of the author, published mainly in the second half of the 80s - early 90s of the last century and concerning the contribution made to Russian culture by the outstanding poet of the late 19th - early 20th centuries, educator, enlightenment activist, and philologist-scientist Innokenty Fyodorovich Annensky. It examines the refraction in Annensky's work of some of the historical-cultural layers he covered (ancient drama, Russian and French poetry, etc.), parallels between his different texts (lyrics, drama, critical prose, translations, letters), as well as their reminiscences in Anna Akhmatova and other poets.
