The collection was prepared in the footsteps of the first in Russia of the scientific conference dedicated to Ecifrasis, that is, the description of the work of visual art or architecture in the literary text (Irley (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, June 23-25, 2008) The article included in the book demonstrate an interdisciplinary approach to the problem, which allows both to analyze the forms and functions of Ecifrasis into individual historical and cultural epochs, and consider this concept in a more general conceptual plan
