Gold!.. Who and in what times did not seek it? By Stalin's order, specialists from other countries were brought in, including mining engineer John Littlepage, who had worked in Alaska. A great storyteller, he spoke in private conversations about his work at the "Glavzoloto" trust, about Soviet gold deposits, the organization of the gold mining industry controlled by the NKVD, the conditions of workers and women's labor in the mines, as well as smelting production in the Southern Urals, Kazakhstan, Bashkiria, Yakutia, Western Siberia, where he had to work... Conversations with him, recorded by journalist Demari Bess, formed the basis of this book.
