In search of the land of Sannikov - a popular edition focused on the reader, just starting to get acquainted with the polar theme. The first of these travels - the swimming yacht and subsequent winterings under the leadership of Eduard Vasilyevich Tall, a geographer and a geologist, who had the task of finding the land of Sannikov, who began in 1900. In this company as a hydrograph, Lieutenant Alexander Vasilyevich Kolchak, the future leader of the White Movement showed itself and very adequately. However, events developed tragically: after the second wintering Zarya was forced to leave, leaving two groups of polarists on the islands of the Arctic Ocean. For their salvation, and the second expedition described in the book was undertaken
