In this edition, the memoirs of the writer, educator, and enlightener Alexandra Alexeevna Ershova (nee Shteve) about her imprisonment during the civil war are being published for the first time. In June 1920, she went to Poltava through the front lines to search for her two sons. In the pre-frontline zone (the front line was near Poltava at that time), Ershova was arrested by the Soviet authorities on charges of espionage and imprisoned in a concentration camp in Kharkov, where she spent eight months under the threat of execution. During her imprisonment, Alexandra Alexeevna kept a diary in which she recorded her observations and experiences. These diary entries are authentic evidence of the terrible and tragic events of that time and are of undeniable interest to all those who care about the recent history of our country. Ershova's memoirs are filled with reflections on the history of Russia, which she sees as lost and destroyed. Her view of the Soviet reality, which she cannot accept, prompts her to question possible ways of reviving the people and the country. In this context, particular importance is attached to the living Christian faith that Alexandra Alexeevna demonstrated towards the people around her and everything that was happening. The issues raised by the author have not lost their relevance in our time.
