This monograph is dedicated to the application of immediate constituent analysis and thematic progression in the process of translating from Chinese to Russian. The translation of sentences in Chinese is considered a process that includes specific stages. In constructing sentence trees, an analysis from small to large is used. This technique is sequentially applied for: 1) the translation of sentences in ancient Chinese from the pre-Qin period, borrowed from such works as "Lun Yu", "Mengzi", "Laozi", "Zhuangzi", "Xunzi", as well as "Yanzi Chun Qiu", 2) the analysis of parallelism and translation into Russian of Tang poetry (authors Du Fu and Bo Juyi), 3) the translation of sentences in modern Chinese, borrowed from the "People's Daily Newspaper Yearbook" (2014). The second part of the work is dedicated to the use of thematic progression theory for semantic analysis and translation of selected novellas from the collection "Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio" (author Pu Songling). Correlating the considered supra-sentential unity with one or another theme-rheme progression allows for the restoration of omitted themes without resorting to translating the source text into modern Chinese. This work represents a complete translation into Russian of a doctoral dissertation defended by the author at Nankai University (Tianjin, PRC) on May 22, 2021.
