A collection of articles" Ibsen, Gamsun, Chekhov: then and now, is dedicated to three great writers of the era of the turning point and at the same time the heyday of art at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. The interaction of two cultures at that time was especially active and productive. All three writers were connected with the Moscow Art Theater and influenced the formation of a new theater style. Russian and Norwegian literary scholars, theaters and directors reflect on the work, individual characteristics and psychology of writers, as well as the stage embodiment of their works then in the era of modernism, and now - in the XXI century. The collection presents materials from the archive of the Moscow Art Theater Museum, which help to comprehend the creative process when creating a performance and business relations between the Norwegian writer Gamsun and the Moscow Art Theater in the period of preparation for the production of his last play in the paws" life.
