This book is a collection of selected letters received by Ilya Ehredburg in 1916-1967. Among them, very little pre-war - their Erenburg burned in Paris in 1940 (only draft variants of several letters of Brysov, Voloshin and Tsvetaeva remained. But the archive of Ehrenburg since 1940 was the richest. Among the addressees of the writer are outstanding figures of world culture of the 20th century, large public and political figures: Bryusov, Akhmatova, N.Ya. Mandelshtam, B. Pasternak, Tvardovsky, K. Simonov, Brodsky, V. Grossman, Powesty, Schwartz, Kaverin, Kazaquime, V. Nekrasov, Y. Dombrovsky, V. Shalamov, A. Efron, Shklovsky, Jacobson, Eikenbaum, Likhachev, Etkind, Vyach. Sun. Ivanov, Yu. Lotman, F. Vigdorova, Meyerhold, Tairov, Konen, F. Ranevskaya, Eisenstein, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Bukharin, Kollondtai, Rokossovsky, Picasso, Chagall, Saryan, Le Corbusier, Hemingway, Steinbeck, Sartre, J.- R. Block, Aragon, Cockt, Malro, Verkor, Siemenion, Moravia, Feichthanger, Amada, Neruda and many others.
The book also includes chosen letters of relatives, loved ones, fragments of the military and deputy mail. The last section of the books make up letters of sympathy addressed to the wife and daughter of Ehrenburg after his death.
