To touch the sleeping human heart and awaken it to spiritual life and love, to incline the human mind to the Divine truth, the only truth - this is what a great universal teacher is capable of. During his lifetime, crowds of people went to the temple just to hear him. When the wicked rulers expelled Saint John Chrysostom from the temple on the holiest day of Easter, the people followed him, and in an open field, the saint performed the Easter service with such a huge gathering of people that the authorities had to send troops to maintain order and avoid dangerous consequences for themselves. And when the beloved preacher John Chrysostom was exiled from the capital by the same authorities (for exposing their wickedness), the outraged people took to the streets and showed such indignation that as a result, the entire center of Constantinople was burned down, and only after the imperial palace was set on fire, the rulers, fearing for their lives, had to bring back John Chrysostom.
