In the French writings of the second half of the XVII - beginning of the 18th century, the royal court is often characterized as a certain "country" or "region". The peak of the popularity of this geographical metaphor, apparently, coincides with the beginning of the personal reign of Louis XIV and the construction of Versailles, when the court has finally left Paris. But she appeared a little earlier, during the time of Front, against the backdrop of the confrontation of the royal power and parliament, and the rebellion of the aristocracy. However, historical circumstances only partially explain its occurrence. The book traces linguistic, literary and cultural sources of metaphors associated with the rhetorical skills of the formed estate of the XVI-XVII century, namely with his characteristic habit of operating with ready-made language formulas. This aesthetics of "common places" is a specific type of sociality, and ultimately the political model of resistance "resistance" of the Eye of Louis XIV
