The name of the remarkable writer Leonid Panteleev (1908-1987), author of the stories "Republic of SHKID" and "Lenka Panteleev," is familiar to many readers, especially to older people. This collection includes works that were not intended by the author for publication during his lifetime. The autobiographical story "I Believe!" is written as a confession and a declaration of faith during the years of militant atheism, sometimes reaching the absurd. The author tells what exactly he believes in, what is dear to his soul, and what he will never accept in his heart. It is also a book of memories, not only about himself but also about those legendary people with whom the writer had the opportunity to communicate closely. Thanks to this work, we learn that even Samuil Marshak, Daniil Kharms, Alexander Grin, Evgeny Schwartz, and Vera Panova in those distant years far from faith could sincerely say together with Leonid Panteleev: "I Believe!" The documentary story "Daughter of Jupiter" tells about the daughter of the last Petrograd military dictator, General S. Khabalov.
