The book “The Shaggy God” is dedicated to the beast, which is no less than a double -headed eagle, can apply for the right to place on the emblem of Russia, a brown bear. All over the world, our country is associated with a bear, whether it be cartoons, allegorical images or code names. The bear for Russia means more than for good old England oak or ivy, for Spain - a boar, and in general any other heraldic symbol of Europe.
The author of the book-Mikhail Kretschmar, candidate of biological sciences, researcher and traveler, member of the International Association for the Study and Protection of Bears-studied brown bears for more than 20 years: in Kolyma, Chukotka, Alaska and in the Ussuri Territory. But there is no science in this book, or almost no. And there is a kind of “bear encyclopedia”, in which a living literary language tells who the brown bears are, where they live, how many bears in the world, how people kill them and how bears kill people.
And all these instructive or simply curious stories turn into one - the history of the relationship of a person of a reasonable and brown bear.
