"War is the continuation of politics by other means, a true instrument of policy. The political goal of war is always at the forefront. Sometimes the political goal may coincide with the military one, for example, the conquest of certain territories," wrote Carl von Clausewitz, a Prussian military leader and a globally renowned military theorist.
In his book, he thoroughly analyzed the strategy and tactics of war, its preparation, the establishment of bases and fortified positions, actions in offense and defense, sabotage acts, partisan uprisings, and much more. He also did not overlook the aspect of war in terms of international politics: why allies and adversaries are found for a particular war, how to win a war using not only military methods but also diplomatic means.
Clausewitz wrote his book for the heir to the Prussian throne, but it became a true manual for all military commanders and statesmen and remains relevant to this day.
