Donato Carrisi is a well-known Italian writer and screenwriter, specializing in criminology and behavioral sciences. He is the recipient of the Italian Bancarella Prize (2009), the French Prix SNCF du polar (2011), and other awards. He is the author of bestsellers translated into over 30 languages and sold in millions of copies. Carrisi has adapted three of his own books - 'The Girl in the Fog' (2017), 'The Girl in the Maze' (2019), and 'I Am the Abyss' (2022) - into screenplays. 'The House of Fires' is a continuation of his brilliant novels 'The House of Voices' and 'The House of Memories'.
In the house on the hill lives a ten-year-old girl named Eva - without parents, but with a housekeeper and a Finnish student, who is also her nanny, Maya Salo. Eva also has an imaginary friend, and the things this friend says and does are causing concern. Maya turns to Pietro Gerber, a Florentine hypnotist who works with traumatized children - although he himself is not in the best mental state after the events of the previous novels, there is no one else to help Eva. Gerber takes on the case - and it turns out that Eva's imaginary friend knows too much about Gerber. This mysterious friend even knows the circumstances surrounding Gerber's death many years ago...
