"The people of the night" of John M. Ford is an extraordinary novel about the game of intelligence and human betrayal, weaving the past and the present in the atmosphere of Sassens.
Nicholas Hansard is a talented historian from a small college in New England. This is the external part of his career, and the hidden consists in working on the white group - the "research and advisory agency" with shadow ties in the government. In cooperation with them, Hansard exposes the secrets of old and new documents - and manifests itself as a brilliant decoder.
But profitable work has many pitfalls. Thanks to her, it turns out: one of the friends and colleagues of Hansard, Dr. Allan Berenson is a Russian spy.
