From 1908 to 1917, 23 children's films were made in Russia, but most of them were adaptations of Russian folk tales. The first Soviet short children's film 'Signal' was made in 1918 and dedicated to the events of the Civil War. The main character sacrifices himself to save a train carrying weapons for the Red Army. When the premiere of the first full-length children's film 'Red Devils' took place in November 1923, the audience literally stormed the cinemas. The newspaper 'Pravda' called it the 'best Soviet film'. The film remained in distribution throughout the silent film era. And when it was dubbed in 1943, it reappeared on screens, dealing a sensitive blow to foreign detective and cowboy films. The film 'Man - Amphibian', released in January 1962, was watched by 65 million viewers in the Soviet Union in its first year alone. It took first place in the box office in 1962. For the first time, a detailed history of Soviet children's cinema and young stars who appeared in these films.
