In the funds of the Russian Ethnographic Museum (RAM) in St. Petersburg, a half-million collection is stored, characterizing the culture and life of peoples living in the XVIII-XX centuries. on the territory of the Russian Empire. Among the unique exhibits are a wonderful collection of traditional costume and textiles, which included a variety of waist clothing: skirts and pants - an obligatory element of almost all costume complexes worn by the peoples of Russia. This publication first publishes an interesting collection of waist clothing from the collection of the Russian Ethnographic Museum. The exhibits presented in the book will talk about various types of skirts and peculiar designs of pants, characteristic of the traditional clothing of the peoples of Russia. We hope that the published materials will attract attention not only by specialists in the history of costume and fashion, ethnographers, art historians, designers, fashion designers, but also a wide range of ordinary users, since interest in these clothing items continues to be preserved today
