Book as an illusion: caches, falsebibs, art objects

We are so accustomed to the widespread and everyday life of the book that we are not surprised when we have a variety of things in the form of books. The author offers to take a closer look at how a person has learned to appreciate the book not so much in the book as the outer shell, turning books into other objects, making book dummies, decorating the interiors, using images of books in painting. Before us is an alternative history of book culture, which has more than five hundred years. With the invention of the printing press, the book ceases to be a faint, highly respected object. Now it is an antilelc, and sometimes the image of the powerlessness of the mind. Society begins to especially appreciate the decorative function, and now the paper book becomes an art object or part of it
