The book describes the history of Mount Athos, which for the Orthodox all over the world is one of the main holy places, is revered as the earthly pit of the Virgin.
According to an ancient legend, the ship on which the Virgin sailed along with the apostle John theologian, got into the storm and nailed to the shore of Athos in the place where the Iversky Monastery is now. Virgo Maria was so amazed by the beauty of this place, which asked God for her place to himself in the lot.
Athos is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List
