Galina Shchekina was born in Voronezh and graduated from the university there. She has been published in the journals "Vologda Lad", "Sever", the international journal "U", and the journal "Sides of the World" (Canada). She is the author of the novels "Or", "You Can Do Anything", the collection "Gobelin Street", and five poetry collections. In 2008, she was awarded a medal, diploma, and prize from the Ilya Tyurin Memory Fund for her educational activities as part of the "Ilya Prize", as well as a special diploma from the Gorky Literary Institute for her work with youth. She was a finalist for the "Russian Booker" prize in 2008 with the novel "Graphomaniac". The text is printed in the author's edition.
