In 1991, the new state of Slovenia was proclaimed. Slovenians, which make up 91% of the country"s population and occupying the southwestern part of the settlement of Slavs, had to go through a difficult path before you managed to create my own state. The ancestors of Slovenians are among the first among the Slavs in the VII century. Created their own state association of a quarantion, and in the IX century. - Low Pannonia. By the end of the IX century. They lost independence and since then, until the establishment of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians in 1918, during almost 1200 years they were under the rule of the Germans. For such a long period of foreign dominion, many nations were assimilated, such as Pomeranian and Polanskie Slavs. Slovenians in this regard represent a kind of historical phenomenon: they managed to preserve as an independent people, to create their own national culture and their own state. When the question is why Slovenians did not share the fate of Pomeranian and Polandskiy Slavs, only the study of their history, their stubborn and difficult struggle for their existence can be answered. The work presented is the first essay of the Slovenian history in domestic historiography.
