"The history of Russian folklores" is the main work of M.K.Azadovsky, folklorist, literary critic and bibliographer, an outstanding figure of domestic humanitarian science - was written in the second half of the 1930s, but for the first time published only after his death (T. 1 - 1958, T. 2 - 1963) Huge erudition and breadth of view, which allowed a scientist to consider the entire history of Russian folklores (from the sources until 1917) in close connection with the history of Russian literature and public thought, against the background of the development of Western European folkloristics and folkloristics of Slavic countries, allow us to talk about the present study as a monument Russian culture XX century.
