The book is devoted to the history of the emergence and development of one of the main sectors of psychological science - age psychology. In its content, the dynamics of views on the problem of mental development is revealed, a comparative analysis of the psychological views of antiquity scientists, the Middle Ages and the New Time, the characteristic of factors contributing to the emergence of age psychology as an independent field of psychological knowledge is given.
Special attention is paid to the analysis of the crisis of psychology in the XX century, which led to the emergence of major modern psychological schools.
