The book offered to the reader is dedicated to the history of states founded by Germanic tribes (Goths, Vandals, Lombards, Franks, etc.), as well as the Huns and Alans, in the territories of continental Europe and North Africa from 375 AD to 800 AD. This was a time of the end of the ancient and the beginning of the medieval era, when old structures were collapsing and new ones were emerging, including political ones. The author thoroughly analyzes how and under what conditions this occurred in different countries. The monograph is intended for a wide range of readers interested in the history of the European-Mediterranean world in the late antiquity and early Middle Ages.
