Yuri Andreevich Zhdanov --- one of the Kremlin children, the son of the party ideologist A.A. Zhdanov, the son-in-law of I.V. Stalin, who became the head of the department of science of the Central Committee of the Communist Party at the age of 28. A brilliant political career awaited him, but after the end of the Stalin era, he was sent to Rostov-on-Don. Contrary to the circumstances, the party intellectual did not dissolve among officials, but became a famous researcher of organic chemistry, a major philosopher and an outstanding organizer of science and higher education in the Don and the North Caucasus. In this publication, the main stages of the life paths of this thinker and socio-political figure are revealed, a number of significant figures with which he worked in Moscow and the Don region were described. The author’s main attention is focused on the historical, political and personal aspects of the biography of the scientist and politician.
