The book tells about the English journalist Robert Vilton (1868–1925), who participated in 1919 in the investigation of the murder of the royal family and members of the Romanov House. It was he who was the first to (in 1920) to announce the details of this atrocity to the whole Mir. His book, unlike books by other participants in the Siberian investigation subsequently published (N.A. Sokolova, M.K. Diterichs and P.P. Bulygin), according to the breadth of distribution (it came out in English, French, Russian, Danish and Polish ), as well as the degree of accessibility (the journalistic style is easy to perceive) for readers from various countries the main source of information about the bloody atrocities of the Bolsheviks, in which the author already managed to consider ritual motifs.
