The works of Olga Andreevna Shapir today are known only to a narrow circle of specialists, and at the beginning of the 20th century, the literary encyclopedias of Russia put its name on a par with the outstanding writers of the Silver Age. The creativity of Shapir, who was highly appreciated by critics, was popular among Return readers, and especially among readers, as it touched on the topic of “struggle for a female personality”. Shapir develops the topic of the consequences of female self -denial in the novel “Without Love”, which shows that not only women themselves, but also their children are a victim of “female slavery”. The main character of the novel, having chosen a marriage with an unloved person, hopes to find comfort in motherhood. However, subsequently, she becomes a witness that as a result of her victims, children suffer: “From an ordinary, sad novel of a married woman, this unfortunate story has long managed to grow into one of those dramas to which the human feeling is not often growing and where there is no longer a way back ... you can only die or break someone else"s existence
