The peasant uprisings of the era of the Civil War occupy the most important place in the history of the formation of Soviet power, leaving a deep mark in the cultural memory of the following generations. Over the past hundred years, accents and ways to describe peasant protests have changed radically several times - from the official Soviet interpretation of performances as the "Kulak -Seserian rebellions" to the romanticization of the rebels during the perestroika period. Bolshevik censorship and the gradual disappearance of the village world led to the fact that the history of the folk performances of those years is mainly told by “other people"s voices”. This collective monograph examines the features of the preservation and transfer of memory of these events. What processes associated with monuments and places of commemoration have occurred over the past hundred years? How were oral memories from older generations to the younger ones passed? How did private and family memory change during this time? What influence mass culture has on the historical memory of the uprising?
