In the book of S.I. Verkovich "Veda Slavs", book 1, published in 1874 in Belgrade (now a reprint edition in the Russian translation), the epic songs and traditions in the Rodopian mountains among the Bulgarian peoples - Pomakov and Marvakov collected. The collection includes materials about the great resettlement of the Pre-Slavs to Europe long before the Hellenes and Celts from its ancestral home, which, according to the description of climate and geographical position, resembles North Africa, which gives material for a new scientific and historical discovery. Songs also contain a vivid description of ancient customs related to the birth, upbringing and marriage of famous heroes. Traditions contain many conspiracies and mystical scenes. There are many songs about the ingenious singer and musician Orpheus - the king and priest of the Thracian people, including the ancient Bulgarian song about Orpheus", which at the First Archaeological Congress in Moscow in 1875 won an honorary letter, and Verkovich himself was awarded the gold medal and the Order Saint Anna. The book will be useful to everyone who is interested in the history of the Slavs, as well as the prehistoric, pre -Christian Vedic culture
