Valkyrie ... mysterious creatures of the Scandinavian culture. The Vikings myths are trying to exalt the tragedy of war about them - to make pain and suffering with heroic exploits. The interweaving of the realities of the earthly and afterlife, ancient legends, the strength of the spirit of beautiful warriors and their personal stories for more than one century make scientists think about who the Valkyries and they really existed?
Based on the latest historical, archaeological evidence and ancient exciting texts, the author tries to reconcile legends about the monstrous mothers and terrifying Virgins with the everyday life of these women, showing them in children"s, young, mature years and on the verge of death. Joanna Catherine Friedricksdottir studied at the universities of Reykjavik and Brighton, before receiving a doctoral degree in medieval literature at the University of Oxford in 2010. Then she took a research internship at Harvard University
