We do not want to retold the whole history of our country - this is simply impossible. We strive to shed light on what we consider to be a betrayal of ideas that formed the basis of its historical mission - since it seems to us that there is still hope to correct these mistakes before the 21st century will finally take its rights. We are deeply worried about the course taken by the United States recently.
Why does our country place its military bases in all corners of the globe, the total number of which, according to some estimates, exceeded a thousand? Why do the United States spend more money on its armed forces than all other countries combined? Why does our state still contain a huge arsenal of nuclear weapons, most of which is in constant combat readiness, although, in fact, no country today poses a direct threat to us today?
Why is the insignificant minority of wealthy Americans allowed to have such a powerful influence on the domestic and foreign policy of the United States and the media, while broad masses suffer from reducing the standard of living, and their voice in politics is heard weaker? Why are Americans forced to put up with constant supervision, state intervention in their personal affairs, violating civil freedoms and the loss of the right to private life?
This would be horrified by the founding fathers and the former generations of Americans. Why in our country exactly those who drives greed and narrow -minded egoism rule those who advocate such social values as kindness, generosity, sympathy for others, common interests and fidelity to national ideals?
And this is only a small fraction of the questions that we will ask on the pages of this book. And although we do not hope that we will be able to find answers to all of them, we will still try to present historical facts so that readers can independently delve into the study of their questions.
“In the history of the American Empire, there is little good. But it is necessary to honestly and openly talk about her if we want the United States to someday dare to go to indigenous reforms that will allow them to play a leading role in promoting humanity forward, instead of slowing down its progress in every possible way. ”
