For almost six years, the submariners of the Third Reich fought in the Atlantic to the struggle with the convictions of the Allies, trying to carry out the UK underwater blockade. The subordinates of the commander of the underwater forces Kriegsmarin Karl Denitz used group tactics to attack convoys, which became known as the tactics of the Wolf"s Wolf. For this, German submariners received from the enemy the nickname "Gray Wolves".
Over these six years, according to the British Admiralty, German submarines sank 2775 merchant ships with a total tonnage of 14,573,000 bc.
However, for a thousand commanders of submarines who took part in the hostilities, only 34 people achieved a bright result, namely, 100,000 bc and a more trade tonnage sank. They are customary to call underwater aces. These 34 ACA sent to the bottom of 873 vessels with a total tonnage of almost 5 million grids (4 826 238).
