The book is a comprehensive scientific work that covers the feat of the defenders of the Maltese archipelago, who withstood the many months of siege of Italo-German troops during the Second World War. The author became the first Russian historian to study the funds of the British and Maltese archives, published diaries and memoirs of participants in tragic events, various photographs, as well as historiography, the central place of which is occupied by rare English -speaking publications from the national library of the Maltese Republic.
