368 years ago, January 18, 1654, in the city of Pereyaslav, hetman Bogdan Khmelnitsky and the Cossack foreman swore allegiance to the Russian Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. This event radically influenced the future history of Ukraine and Russia. Soon after this, a conflict occurred between Moscow and Ukraine, which first led to a break, and then to the second Pereyaslav Rada.
