The book presents two historical works of the general from infantry, writer Yevgeny Vasilyevich Bogdanovich (1829-1914) The first work is dedicated to the Navarinsky battle of 1827 between the United Squader of Russia, England and France, on the one hand, and the Turkish -Egyptian fleet on the other. The defeat of the Turkish fleet in this battle significantly weakened the sea forces of Turkey, which served as an important contribution to the victory of Russia in the further Russo-Turkish war of 1828-1829. The second study talks about the defeat of the Turkish squadron of the Black Sea Fleet under the command of Vice Admiral Pavel Stepanovich Nakhimov on November 18 (30), 1853 in the harbor of the city of Sinop on the Black Sea coast of Turkey.
In the historiography of the Russian fleet, the work of E.V. Bogdanovich is rightfully considered classical
