The personnel commander of the Red Army Vladimir Gil-Rodions at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War was surrounded, ended up in a fascist captivity and eventually agreed to cooperate with the Germans. He created an anti -Soviet organization - a combat union of Russian nationalists and headed armed formations, called the Russian National SS Brigade Druzhina.
