His famous work "History of Great Travels", consisting of three books: "Opening of the Earth", "Mariners of the XVIII century" and "travelers of the XIX century", the famous French writer Jules Verne (1828-1905) wrote for sixteen years. It brightly and entertainingly describes the most significant trips, discoveries, changing the idea of people about the geography of the world, who stylishly white spots on maps that promised wealth and became the causes of wars. The author covered the period from ancient times to the 40s of the XIX century.
The book "Travelers of the 19th century" is devoted to the history of geographical discoveries made in the 19th century. It included descriptions of the travels of Kruzenshtern, Cocebu, Lithuania, Franklin, Bellingshausen and other outstanding researchers.
