The training manual analyzes the evolution of theoretical approaches to historical knowledge from antiquity to the present day, the main methodological problems of historiography and ways to solve them in modern historical science. The authors consider the interpretation of historical space and time, historical truth, the concepts of event and structure, macro- and microistory. A significant place is given to the formation of the method of historical research in Western historiography. The book reflects the numerous difficulties that arose in connection with the distinction between areas of historical and social knowledge that historical thought allowed throughout the 19th-20th centuries.
