A collective monograph is the first generalizing scientific research on the history of Sevastopol from the initial settlement of a person currently included in the administrative boundaries of the city, before the reunification of Sevastopol and Crimea with Russia in March 2014. Particular attention is paid to the history of the foundation, formation and development of the city, the significance of its two heroic defense facilities for the history of the Fatherland and world history as a whole.
The first volume of the monograph is dedicated to the ancient and medieval history of the southwestern Crimea from ancient times to the fall of Ottoman rule on the peninsula, which predetermined the accession of Crimea to Russia and the foundation of Sevastopol.
The publication is designed for historians, archaeologists, political scientists, culturalists, teachers of history, students of historical faculties, as well as everyone who is interested in the history of Russia.
