The monograph contains a comprehensive historical and legal study of the features and laws of the formation and development of state-legal protection of motherhood and childhood in Russia in the middle of the XIX-early XX centuries. The process of the formation of the legislative basis, as well as the activities of state bodies and public organizations in pre -revolutionary Russia in the field of protection of motherhood and childhood, is considered. The rights of minor children, pregnant women and women who have children in legal and illegal marriages are analyzed, as well as a marriage recognized as invalid according to the Russian legislation of the mid -19th - early 20th centuries. The criminal law status of women during the implementation of reproductive functions is investigated. The content of the main measures taken by state bodies and public organizations in the field of protection of motherhood and childhood, as well as the specifics of the interaction of these bodies, is analyzed.
