In contrast to the triumph of the aesthetics of the Stalinism of the First All -Union Congress of Soviet Writers (1934), which has long attracted the attention of researchers and gathered extensive literature, the second all -Union Congress of Soviet writers (December 15-26, 1954) still remains almost unexplored. The proposed collective monograph is an attempt to at least partially fill this gap. How Soviet writers reacted to the I.V. Stalin Vakuum in the leadership, what strategies and programs were offered before and during the congress, what parallel processes were observed in the areas adjacent to the literature: in the humanities, in music, painting - this is the circle of questions that united its authors
